My next steps in writing

Kia ora Whanau!

Today in class we took look at our scores from our writing test and we were wondering "What should I do to make this better?" We looked on a slide or teacher shared us and we had to see what we did and what our next steps are in punctuation, vocab, organisation, sentence structure and ideas. 

For punctuation I need to get better at commas, speech marks, capital letters and exclamation marks because all I am doing is full stops and capital letters and isn't that boring? 

For vocab I need to get better at nouns, adjectives and verbs

Snow Day

On a dark snowy night I can see trees with snow on the branches and a dark snowy sky in the background. I can see bushes behind the brown house and the light glimmering on the trees as they go left and right from the wind. I can see the grass on the ground and the snow on the grass like a blanket. As the wind pushes the trees there is a reindeer in the background running like the speed of light and you might wondering where did that reindeer come from? 

The reindeer had a bell wrapped around it's neck like a collar and as it runs you can hear the bell ringing like you wanna sing a song as it runs. Its horns had Christmas light's on it and it looked like it was a beautiful Christmas tree. The reindeer was brown like a chocolate bar and it's eyes were like a golden brown Christmas ornaments. 

You must be wondering why it's running. It's running because it's getting chased by wolves! The reindeer ran like the speed of light and it was calling for help. The wolves looked hungry like it hasn't been eating in 3 weeks. The wolves were gray and they were hungry and starving. The wolves were getting faster and faster every step they take as the reindeer is running as fast as it can.

Will the reindeer escape from the hungry wolves? Or will the reindeer say it's last words? We will find out on Chapter 2! 

In my Wananga class our teacher told us what to write but in our own words and look what came out! I love this story so much because I like how it has Christmasy stuff in there like the reindeer and the snow on the ground. 

 

Business and Enterprise

Kia Ora Readers,

Today, me and my group has been making nebula necklaces. We tried so hard on these necklaces and it was fun. Sadly, we didn't get to complete our task and we had to let all that work go. Because of that, we never got to order the stuff we thought we wouldn't use. Today me and my class was in health class and my teacher made all of us a slide and it had all of the days of the week. 100 Word Challenge

 

One hot day there was a family and they were going to the water park. There were three kids and two parents. The kids names was Apera, Maraia and Ngawari. There was one boy and two girls and they all loved each other. They went to the water park and they were having fun. The parents let the kids go and they were going to have a coffee. The kids went to all of the water slides except one. “Looks like we have one more water slide” Said Maraia. They all looked up and the water slide was huge. The Parents saw the kids and they shouted “Don’t go up there, it's too dangerous!” so they ran to the slide but they went down the slide but then there were lots of clouds and they didn’t see the kids so they went to the part where they slide down but they never came down so the parents waited and waited and waited but they never came out again. The End?

Making our own business

Today me and my buddy Liv have been looking at advertisements. Advertisements (ad for short) are like a video or a picture and it gets everyone's attention. If your on TV on YouTube a video is gonna pop up. That is what a advertisement is. My teacher wanted us to make a business. We had to make a logo too. Reflection Work

Kia Ora Readers,

I showed commitment by finishing my work and ignoring the people who is not doing their work, I also showed achievement by doing work during lock down even though I wasn't at school, I did respect by not distracting others and not disrespecting the teacher and I also showed resilience by helping others even though i'm suppose to do my work

In WGA I conpleted all my work by focusing and listening to the teacher. The work was hard over the terms but I never gave up I kept on going and going and now I completed my work. When there is a reliever/guest teacher in everyone always go silly so even though there is a new teacher coming in it doesn't mean you don't give them the same respect.

In Arts Kete I picked music production because it makes me calm and focused on the work. me and my group are working on making our new song and I thought it would be hard because I never made a song before and I don't know how to make the lyrics but with my friends help they made me think that I can do it so me and my friends try to make the song and we did it by not giving up.

Tongan Language Week

Parihaka

Kia Ora Readers,

Today in my class we learned all about Parihaka. It all started when Tohu Kakahi and Te Whiti o Rongomai found Parihaka. Tohu and and Te Whiti wanted peace so they put down their weapons and wanted peace for their people. On November 1881 the goverment didn't like what Tohu and Te Whiti were doing so the goverment arrested many of the men in Parihaka, including Tohu and Te Whiti. In 2003, Parihaka were visited by important people like Martin Luther King Jnr, Mahatma Ghandi and the Japanese peace movement. Baking Churros

Today I looked at the work at home site for my work and one of them said Try a new Recipe. When i looked at it i asked my cousin to help me make Churros! Here are the ingredients and directions to make churros. Make sure your doing this with an adult and make sure you don't burn yourself! I might not put the photo of the churros we made because I forgot about the blog and ate the churros before we took a photo. whoops.

INGREDIENTS                                                    

FOR THE CHURROS

1 c. water

6 tbsp. butter

2 tbsp. granulated sugar

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1 c. all-purpose flour

1 tsp. kosher salt

2 large eggs

Vegetable oil, for frying

Cinnamon sugar

DIRECTIONS

1. Make churros: In a large saucepan over medium heat, add water, butter, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then add vanilla. Turn off heat and add flour and salt. Stir with a wooden spoon until thickened, 30 seconds. Let mixture cool for 10 minutes. 
2. To cooled mixture, using a hand mixer, beat in eggs one at a time until combined. Transfer mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip. 
3. In a large pot over medium heat, add enough oil to come halfway up the sides and heat to 375°. Holding the piping bag a few inches above the oil, carefully pipe churros into 6" long ropes. Use kitchen scissors to cut off dough from piping bag. 
4. Fry until golden, 4 to 5 minutes, turning as necessary. Fry 3 to 4 churros at a time and let oil come back to 375° before each batch. Remove churros with a slotted spoon or tongs and immediately roll churros in cinnamon sugar, then place on a cooling rack. 
5. Make chocolate dipping sauce: Place chocolate chips in a medium heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring heavy cream to a simmer. Pour hot cream over chocolate chips and let sit 2 minutes. Add cinnamon and salt and whisk to combine. 
6. Serve churros with chocolate dipping sauce if you have melted chocolate

Today me and my class have been doing this Touchpad practice for cybersmart and we had to make a copy of it of course. Each slide had instructions and steps on what to do to complete the task but if you got it wrong you have to restart. 100 Word Challenge

Once upon a time there as a band that had 4 boy's in the band and they were called Reggie, Alex Luke and Trevor. They were trying to become famous but they weren't that famous. After there song they played 3 of the boy's (Reggie, Alex and Luke) were hungry so they wanted a hot dog. They saw a hot dog stand and they order a hot dog but somehow.

A few minutes later they died by poisoning in there hot dog and Trevor was the only one alive. Years later there was a girl called Julie and she loved music and love her family but mostly she loves her mum because she passed away when she was little. Se lives with her Dad and her little brother and she goes to a school called Los Feliz High School. After she went home she heard a noise in her garage and then the 3 boys who just showed up out of nowhere and the girl screamed and screamed. She tried to tell her Dad but he didn't believe her. 

In the Morning she found out that they died in 1995 so she asked them what happened. So they had to do unfinished business. They became friends but then the boys found out that there old friend trevor was old and he stole there old bands songs so that he can get famous so they went to his house and haunted him till he stop making songs. In the end, the boys decided to cross over. They thought that since they died right before performing at the Orpheum, playing that show must be their unfinished business. So, helped by Willie, they secured an opening night gig at the theater and played their hearts out. But after the show, they didn't cross over.  The End?

Kakapo protest

 Kia Ora Readers,

Today me and my group has read this book called ugly. It's about this boy who was just having a normal day until he looked at the ugliest bird competition and what he saw made his emotions turn angry! He saw the Kakapo as the 6th top ugliest bird so he wanted to protest. When he went to school and made a poster that said: "Help the Kakapo! Stop the petition! So the kids wanted to make there own poster. Protest is when you deny that you feel the way that a person is accusing you of feeling. An example of protest is when you carry signs and picket a workplace to show your disapproval for their bad labour practices. 

Why is being Cybersmart important to our learning

Kia Ora Readers,

I think Cybersmart is important to our learning because Cybersmart helps you with your reading and it makes you do the right thing. Cybersmart helps you with your learning by teaching you stuff that you need to learn like how to look after your chromebook or how to put a video on your blog for example. Cybersmart tells you things that are appropriate and not appropriate. So Cybersmart is doing this for safety. Without Cybersmart people will go crazy and dum and won't know what to do.

STEAM Kete

 This term we are doing STEAM Kete. We have to work in a group of four. I worked with my twin sister Mikhanya, Riansha and Aone. Our topic is Fashion and e-textiles. We have been planning to create a Korowai and Poi so we can wear and perform it in 2050. We have been working in our groups on a couple of weeks but on the last week of the term it was the last time we had to finish it. we had to work quick and hurry up but when the bell rang lots of people came to our classroom and lots of inventions and stuff were on the table which means we were presenting today and lots of people came to our presentation.

We should bring our pets at school

I agree because they make you comfortable, warming and loved. Some kids don't have anyone to play tag with them or hide & seek so if they buy a pet they can play with them so they don't feel lonely. If you were at a game after school or you had to do work you might get kidnapped and you don't have anyone with you but if you had you a dog or something strong that you teached to fight you wouldn't get killed.

Why Kids should not wear uniform at school

Kia ora Whanau,

Today me and my class were discussing why and if we need wear uniform at school so I wanna share if I disagree or agree and why. 

I agree because when your wearing your normal clothes some people might feel more comfortable more than wearing school uniform that's not your type. Some people might like skirts and dresses and some people don't and they have to wear their uniform which is a dress and can't wear the boys uniform. When you wake up in the morning you always have to get dressed into your uniform and if they have to get buttoned it would take longer.

Year 7/8's Student's Should be Allowed to have Phones at School

Today me and my class are sick and tired of going to school without phones so we talked to the kids if they agree or disagree. Some kids say no some kids say yes but that's ok so I wanna share if I disagree or agree.

I agree because if your in trouble like your getting kidnapped or your about to die or something you need your phone to call the police or your mum to get help but if you don't you will probably get killed. When you feel bad you can just go on your phone and just text someone who makes you feel comfortable. When someone dies in your family or your friends you can look at your phone and see the photo's of your family.   

Dogs (Oreo)

Today I will be telling you why I want a dog.

like dogs because they make you comfortable and feel nice. Dogs were just a loose category of wolves until around 15,000 years ago, when our ancestors tamed and began to manage them. We fed them, bred them, and spread them from continent to continent. While other wolf descendants died out, dogs grew into a new species. Dogs help you if your in trouble like if your getting robbed or you got hurt they will help you all the time when it happens. They help blind people when they are crossing the road or got hurt. 

This could have happened around the same time as the rise of agriculture, about 10,000 years ago. The oldest fossils generally agreed to be domestic dogs date to about 14,000 years, but several disputed fossils more than twice that age may also be dogs or at least their no longer entirely wolf ancestors.

Needs

Today me and my class are doing this when we have to write what has to still be there in the future and I choose houses because if we didn't have houses then where would we live in the future? This is where I will tell you why we need houses

I think that you still need houses because it makes you safe and you can survive. It's possible that people have been living in houses since before there were technically people. Who built the first houses? Early humans built temporary shelters, but the first permanent houses were built by early farmers in the Middle East about 11,000 years ago. Around that time, at Zawi Chemi Shanidar in the Zagros Mountains, people used river boulders to build some of the earliest houses.

Book Review

 Kia ora Whanau,

Today me and my class had to read all the chapters on our book in our group and my group have to write a blog about the book Charlotte's web. Miss Birtch assigned us these novel study tasks. We had to write about the book. The book is about this little pig, 

He was little and he was a newborn but there were to much pigs so he had to be killed by Mr Arable. Then this girl came and stopped him right before he was gonna kill the pig. The father stopped and the girl begged him for the pig to live so he let her keep the pig till the pig is older so she looked after him weeks after weeks and after weeks.

My favourite part is when Wilbur tries to be a spider and tries to make a web in the mud. The characters are Wilbur, Charlotte, Fern Arable, Mrs Arable, Mr Arable, Templeton, Charlotte, Avery Arable and Mr Zuckerman. Only 91% liked this book. I rate 5/10 because sometimes there are hard and long words that I don't even understand. 

It is important that Year 7-8 do Friday sport

Today in Te Ao Whanui we are learning if we disagree or we agree for the period. There is a statement that the teacher set us to do and we have to write what we think. I hope you like the blog.

Every Friday all the year 7 and 8's have a early lunch for like half an hour so we can get ready for our game. After we have our early lunch we have a teacher and he rings a bell so we can go to the teachers that teaches you Netball. Most of the time people mostly focus on school work. The other years (year 9 10 12 13) They have there lunch and have there last class

I agree because it is really important to have Friday sport. It is good for you because you can get exercise and get fit.

Ice Cream is better than cake

Today me and my class were talking about if cake or ice cream were the best so we used this thing and we call it Oreo but it stands for Opinion, Reason, Example and Opinion (again) and after we write we have to highlight the things we were supposed to do on the Oreo so here is which one I like the most

I agree because there are different flavours and it is healthier than cake. My favourite flavour is cookie and cream because it has cookies in it. When you eat cake you have a sugar rush 

Cats are a better pet than dogs

Today me and my class were discussing what pet is better and today and I choose. 

I disagree and think dogs are better than cats because all that cats do is just scratch your couch, Scratch on the door, Meow at night and keep you awake and leave fur all over your house. But dogs are better than cats because they can hunt for stuff and they can help people if they need help and they can sense if something is wrong and they are more entertained than cats and more focused than cats because cats just walk around in your house and that's why I like dogs the most. Bingo Board

In my reading group we had to read this book called Steamed Power Car. Our teacher told us to go on this thing called a bingo board and we had to pick three thing and we had to answer them and we had to show it to the teacher. Here are the three thing I picked from the bingo board and the answer and we had to only pick the three questions diagonal otherwise it won't work. 

Opinion: I like the way the car is so was old looking and small

One day there was a family and they were moving in to a old house and there was this girl she was 15 and her name was Wairau. She always thought the house would be haunted but her parents didn't believe her so she told her parents to move into the house and try to get revenge since they didn't believe her. At night Wairau was asleep but then she heard a noise from the garage and she put her dark blue jacket on and she went outside. When she looked outside she looked frightened by the mist so she quickly went in the garage then she saw a werewolf and then she ran back inside and then the werewolf wiped out her memories and she now doesn't know anything about the wolf

BUNGEE JUMPING!!!

Today Me and group has been reading about how and when bungee jumping was made. The person who made bungee jumping was Alan John Hackett and his friends. How he made it was he used a thick cord and he put a thousand rubber bands on it and he jump off into the air. When did everyone know it was made? He tied the cord and the rubber bands to the Eiffel tower and he jumped off and attracts everyone's attention but then he got arrested because it was too dangerous. In class I have been doing comprehension and today I will be studying Easiyo. Here are the questions and I will be answering them.

The Cardboard Cathedral was built after the 2011 earthquakes and thanks to Shigeru Ban and he goes around the word to built amazing things and it was open in August 2013 for the first earthquake anniversary and it was designed by the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban in collaboration with local firm Warren and Mahoney, it cost under $6 million. Me and my reading group has been going on google drawings and we had to try and make a cardboard cathedral for our blog and this is my one and I hope you like it and leave a comment if your interested goodbye.
